Proficiency-Based Pedagogy in Russian II
This course extends learning from prior sessions, engaging students in monthly webinars and asynchronous tasks to deepen their grasp of selected advanced topics in language pedagogy and SLA, from general issues to specific challenges confronting teachers of Russian as a foreign and heritage language in the contemporary context. Students will lead a chosen-topic webinar and engage in subsequent discussions. Additionally, they will observe and analyze two language lessons in their community, focusing on principles from previous courses, emphasizing inclusive pedagogies, use of authentic materials, proficiency-oriented pedagogy, SLA-informed pedagogical practices, and backward design.
