The Psychology of Pediatric Interviews: Helping Kids Remember
Whenever children visit the doctor they are questioned about their current well being. If a child happens to be at the doctor's office because of an injury or a food-borne illness, helping the child accurately report personal experiences is of utmost importance. In this class we will study the psychological literature on children's autobiographical memory and examine how this theory is applied in pediatric interviews. This is an applied research-based class. In addition to studying interview protocols, students will practice interviewing, engage in data collection and coding, and learn the general challenges of conducting research in this field.
