Jeffersonian and Jacksonian America, 1800-1848
In this course we will study closely the so-called "Middle Period" of American History from the "Revolution of 1800" to the Mexican War. We will examine the major themes of the period - political democracy, economic diversification, social reform, intellectual ferment, and territorial expansion - as parts of an evolving sense of American nationality. 2 hrs. lect, 1 hr. disc.
