Curriculum Planning and Lesson Design
This course introduces didactic and methodological considerations for designing an effective curriculum with accompanying lesson plans. Particular emphasis will be given to the following issues: outside influences that determine a curriculum design, guidelines of the European Frame of Reference, can-do statements, intercultural communicative competence, backward design and essential questions, as well as diverse models of assessment. The discussion will be accompanied by activities and projects that can be implemented directly in the language and culture classroom. The course culminates in the creation of an individualized curriculum design.
