Accuracy in Communication

Communicating one’s point to interlocutors is a challenge even in one’s own native language. Successful communicators use both verbal and non-verbal clues to accurately convey their wishes and desires. The challenge for non-native speakers is even greater. In highly inflected languages like Russian, appropriate use of lexicon, grammar, and syntax is vital to achieving one’s communicative goals. In this course, students will be engaged in real-life like, functional situations and contexts, in which relevant and correct use of vocabulary and structure will be highlighted and practiced.
