The WTO System -- Rules, Procedures and Institutional Framework

This two-credit course Provides a deeper understanding of the World Trade Organization, the major multilateral agreement governing world trade. It covers the core principles and rules of the WTO, as well as the many separate agreements administered by its various bodies. It also provides an in-depth study of the WTO as an institution -- its decision-making procedures, negotiating methods, dispute settlement function and other features. The course offers a critical analysis of the major challenges facing the institution, and concludes with a workshop where students will assume the roles of member governments in a mock-session of the WTO General Council.
