American Studies Web Museum

American Studies Web Museum
This is an experimental course in local cultural history and web design. We will use original archival materials from Special Collections and/or the Henry Sheldon Museum to create new exhibits for the American Studies Web Museum at Middlebury College. A considerable portion of class time will be spent in Special Collections and at the Sheldon Museum. This year's exhibits will focus on practices and discourses relating to mental and physical disability in nineteenth- and twentieth-century Vermont. Students will learn scanning, web design, and other technical skills. We will also learn about and contribute to the rich cultural heritage of Middlebury College and the surrounding local community.
