Foundations Political Economy

Foundations of Political Economy
Each of the dominant traditions in political economy – classical, Marxian, neo-classical and Keynesian – has foundational texts that continue to inform modern scholarship, both directly and, perhaps more often, indirectly. In this writing intensive course, we shall engage in close reading and discussion of some of these canonical texts, among them Adam Smith’s Wealth of Nations, Karl Marx’s Capital and John Maynard Keynes’ General Theory. We shall explore both the texts on their own terms and their influences on subsequent research. (ECON 0250 or ECON 0255, or their equivalent)
