Linguistics &For Lang Teaching

Fundamentals in Linguistics and Foreign Language Teaching

The objective of this course is to provide an overview of fundamental concepts in Linguistics and Foreign / Second Language Teaching and to consolidate the knowledge of the terminology specific to these two disciplines. It is particularly recommended for students who will spend the year in Paris for their Master and who will attend courses in these two subject matters while in France. In linguistics we will study the basic concepts of the different levels of analysis of a language system (phonetics / phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics). The course will also provide an overview of a chronological perspective on teaching methodologies. Students will then be invited to discover the linguistic (and other) goals as well as methodologies adopted in various exercises and activities found in textbooks of French as a Foreign / Second Language.
