This course is designed to explore the profound influence of the Internet and the media on our political and financial views and perspectives; how conflicts arise due to misinformation and emotion evoked by the media. It also focuses on why the rise of the Internet - due to its immediate availability - speeds up the conflict process, and how governmental censorship controls people’s perspectives. It examines the broad range of activities associated with the globalization of media production, distribution and reception. The course seeks to raise communicative and cultural competence by providing students with fundamental concepts on the Internet, Media, and Conflict in the Hispanic World.
