Fiction Writing in Spanish
In this course students will build upon prior experience in creative writing. Each student will create a novella or a collection of interconnected stories showing unity of theme, character, style, and or plot. Readings will include models of short fiction from Spain and Latin America. Readings on the art and craft of fiction writing will include works by Auerbach, Castellanos, Cortázar, Gornick, Monterroso, Poe, Quiroga, and Reyes. (Two Spanish courses at the 0350 level or above and prior experience in creative writing, or by waiver) 3 hrs. lect./disc.
